When the lightning current is discharged to ground, the lightning counter can induce it and will count correctly.

The ALPS lightning strike counter is suitable for all SPD’s, lightning rods, and more. This version of the lightning strike counter is mechanical so once the discharge current has been induced the number of lightning strikes counted is simply displayed on screen. The ALPS lightning counter has the advantage of being water and dust resistant.
